Justin Meehan, Director of Fencing
The Long Island Tennis & Sports Foundation provides after school programs in Fencing at Long Island schools (elementary, middle and high schools) and parks and recreation departments. The LITSF provides all the fencing equipment and certified fencing instructors.
Coach Meehan is known throughout the fencing world as a hard and determined competitor, always willing to fence one more bout. He has excelled in all three weapons at all levels and continues this tradition as a coach. His current coaches include Jerome Cordero, Chris Zebuth, and Boris Vaksman; Coach Meehan has been fencing for over fifteen years. He was a varsity fencer for four years at Walt Whitman High School under the direction of Coach Mel Wichick. Coached by Chris Zebuth he continued his successful career at St. John's University.
Justin has medaled several times at the Empire State Games, and has gone home with the best bottle twice from the NYAC Hangover Open. Coach Meehan was also the 1999 Winner of the Ralph Goldstein Memorial Open. He has developed his coaching skills as an Assistant Coach at St. John's University as well as Mamaroneck High School.
Most recently, he has become Head Coach of the boys' team at his alma mater, Walt Whitman High School. He teaches both beginners and advanced students in foil, sabre, and épée. He is a member of the US Fencing Coaches
